on eagles wings FAQ

Who can volunteer for On Eagles Wings?
Anyone! Groups and individuals from First Covenant Church as well as the community are encouraged to volunteer. Individuals with and without medical backgrounds are needed.

How many volunteers are needed?
On Eagles Wings strives to have a 1:1 adult to child ratio. Since On Eagles Wings is just beginning, the number of volunteers needed fluctuates from month to month, but the need is great.

What areas are volunteers needed in?
Volunteers are needed to work with special needs children child care and sibling child care once a month and on SUndays during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday school classes.

How long is the time commitment?
For the Friday night respite program, volunteers arrive at 5:30 p.m. and leave by 9:15 p.m. On Sunday mornings, volunteers are needed from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30am.

What about dinner?
First Covenant Church will provide a free light dinner on Fridays for volunteers from 5:30-6:00 p.m. before the children arrive while assignments are given and general information sharing occurs.

How often do I need to volunteer?
There is no requirement, so as often as you wish.

What do I do while I'm at On Eagles Wings?
Plan to have fun. The children will enjoy time in the gym, videos, crafts, and snacks. Volunteers should come with lots of energy.

What about my own children?
We are unable to provide supervision on Friday nights for children under the age of 12. We encourage youth from 10 to 12 to volunteer with a parent and we welcome youth over the age of 13 to become a volunteer.

What if I am sick?
Please call the coordinator and cancel if you are sick. Any small illness, even a cold, can cause serious problems for these children.

What do I wear?
You will want to dress casually and comfortably.
